Yorkshire Cosplay Con 2016 Aftermath
Hi Guys!
Sorry for the lack of updates on here, we have been having a bit of a break and then been getting ourselves ready for the future.
Yorkshire Cosplay Con 2016 was a massive success with over 6000 attending, all of our TV and Movie guests had such a good time that they all want to come back to the next one, which is fantastic. We have had overwhelming positive feedback from everyone that attended, and while everyone thought it was a brilliant event there was some things that some people couldn't find, so next year we will be improving our signage to make it easier for everyone to find their way to everything they want to see. We would to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful traders, our generous sponsors and supporters, special guests and costumers for helping to make Yorkshire Cosplay Con 2016 possible, and of course all of you that attended during the weekend.
As many of you will have seen, we had a charity leg waxing, that one of our very own organizers Jon volunteered for, in aid of Ashgate Hospice. Paul Brady of Superheroes Cosplay is a champion of this charity and we came up with the idea of Jon and Paul having their legs waxed on stage if we could raise £100, as soon as people heard about this, Youtuber Jack Storey AKA SlowSniper, Cosplayers Ryun Stark, Cosplayer John Hall from Team Arrow and our Host Dennis all volunteered to join in too. We also said that if we could raise more than £200 we would do this as princesses. Well it turns out we raised just over £600 in total, with victims offering more if people donate to their personal target, like Pauls back waxing and Jacks Chest Waxing. The crowd went mad and gave generously to the fantastic cause. As well as this Hallam FM was there raising money for their Cash For Kids Charity. They was trying to see if they could break the record for most superhero characters in one place and we will be finding out the results in the next few weeks due to the intense scrutiny involved. As well as this they were running a silent auction where they had a selection of items that had been donated to the charity. So in total Hallam FM's Cash for Kids charity raised over £400. In addition, there were other charities fundraising on the days which has led to well over £1000 being raised for the various charities that attended.
We will be returning to Sheffield Arena early next June and the date will be announced later next month so keep an eye on our social media for the announcements. But to keep you going in the mean time we will be hosting a Social Club event this September. Tickets are on sale now and are limited as this is a smaller social event and will be taking place at Bentley MyPlace on 17th September. For more information of to book please click here.
And last but not least, we sponsored and took part in the Cineworld Sci-Fi Trivia quiz at Sheffield. We put our knowledge to the test against other teams of TV and Movie buffs and e are pleased to announce that we wasn't completely hopeless and managed to scarp 3rd place.
