I Cosplay
“i Cosplay†is a relatively new internet based campaign against bullying of cosplayers and amongst cosplayers.
This whole campaign came about when Sarah and Dan Parker’s 14 yr old son was bullied in high school for enjoying cosplaying.
He cosplays to raise money for charities, alongside over 18’s star wars costuming groups. “i Cosplay†was or originally started to just support him, but it very quickly became very popular and Sarah and Dan were swamped with followers and likes from other cosplayers who shared their tales and stories of how bullying had affected them.
It has really opened up our eyes as to how much bullying goes on at the comic cons, not just from outside of the community either.
Sarah and Dan have come up with the idea of setting up a safe haven at the cons so that any cosplayers feeling vulnerable or feeling anxious have some were to go to get away from all the hustle and bustle and to feel safe.
We are currently raising funds and will be applying for UK charity status – more news on that coming soon.
i cosplay is not about the negative – We are here to help you, encourage you and gain confidence that you CAN cosplay no matter what. We are a community, a collective, a family and are here to help each other :D
